Use a hammer to gently tap the fasteners to snug the shutter to the siding. Approximately 5 inches from the shutter s top is an ideal location for screws. Repeat this process for each shutter you ll be installing. If your shutters do not have holes for screws you should place them near the top of the sidebars.

Overtightening fasteners during shutter installation can create warping or dimples on the surface of vinyl shutters. You do want to be careful not to squish the siding because remember the siding is somewhat soft. Measure the same distance upward from the bottom of your shutters and make a mark on your siding for the next screw. Turn the shutter over.
